Join the Leadership Institute for free media training at SPNAM 26!

Be Your Best Self: Media Techniques Workshop
Learn what it takes to deliver an effective interview. As an expert in your field, you’ll learn the ropes on how to articulate your message on various media outlets, including television networks like Fox News, CNN, and more. We'll cover the ins and outs of live and recorded interviews, and you’ll learn how to develop your message for the media, speak in sound bites, and look like a seasoned professional.

In part 1/2, we will focus on how to succeed different with media formats, target answer length, appropriate dress and non-verbals, and tactics to stay on message. In part 2/2, attendees will go through an exercise that will prepare them for an interview by preparing talking points, soundbites, and more. Volunteers will then deliver their talking points in short mock interviews, followed by feedback and instruction for the class.

On-Camera Media Training
Put into practice what you learned in parts 1 and 2 of the Media Techniques Workshop. During these small-group sessions, you will be coached through a mock interview while receiving personalized critiques and feedback on how to better tailor your message for live and recorded interviews. You'll develop your message and delivery techniques, learn best practices for on-camera gestures and facial expressions, and gain confidence in your on-camera ability through hands-on experience. You will also receive video footage from the training to review your mock interview.

Rachel Semmel, expert faculty at the Leadership Institute and Media Relations Director at District Media Group will deliver the training. Group size is limited to maximize your time on camera, so sign up now! Times are available during the breakout sessions Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
