Sandy Bushue -  Volunteer Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Sandy Bushue provides business development services for both the corporate and public/private sectors. She is a Subject Matter Expert on transportation, particularly rail and transit, with a focus on engineering and manufacturing and big data, analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and digitalization.

Currently, she is a Principal of B&I Transportation Consulting, LLC, whose clients include engineering firms, rail suppliers and manufacturers, and technology corporations.

Sandy has been the Director of Business Development of Transportation for Hitachi Insight Group, and previously, she was the Director of Government Affairs/Business Development for Siemens Transportation Systems and Vice President for Siemens One.

Sandy’s public sector work includes:
•    Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
•    Acting and Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration (FTA)

Sandy has served in many senior positions at the White House, three Executive Branch Departments and a U.S. Congressional Commission to include:
•    The White House, Director of Programs for the President’s Chief of Staff
•    Deputy Director, National Intermodal Transportation Commission
•    U.S. Department of Transportation, Special Assistant to the Secretary of Transportation
•    U.S. Department of Education, Director of Scheduling and Briefing, Office of the Secretary

Having lived in Arlington for 30 plus years, Sandy does much volunteer work in political and civic organizations.  She ran for office for the seat of the VA House of Delegates in the 49th District.  She has served on the Arlington County Fiscal Affairs and Transportation Commissions for many years.  She is the past president of the Arlington Optimist Club and is presently president of Arlington Inter-Service Civic Club.  Sandy was appointed to the Northern VA Transportation Authority by Governor McDonnell.

Sandy received her B.A. at Eureka College, Eureka, IL and holds a M.B.A. from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA.
