Brent Buchanan is a founding partner of Public Strategy Associates, a campaign strategy, public relations and governmental affairs firm based in Montgomery, Alabama. During the 2010 election cycle, Public Strategy Associates worked with over twenty Republican candidates for both the Primary and General elections. Many won their primaries and did not have general election opposition. However, ten candidates, including Lieutenant Governor, Agriculture Commissioner, five state senate, two state house candidates and a candidate for sheriff were victorious, many in Democrat-leaning districts. PSA also laid the groundwork for now-Governor Robert Bentley’s campaign.

 

Brent is a graduate of Troy University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Politics has piqued his interest from a young age, and he was working on campaigns before he could vote. He has worked with numerous candidates, corporations and advocacy groups in helping them develop and execute successful plans.

 

Brent originally got his feet wet managing campaigns in Montgomery County Commission races, which are larger than Alabama House districts and notoriously Democratic. Both Republican candidates he worked with won against seasoned incumbents.

 

In 2006, Brent worked with Probate Judge Reese McKinney in his re-election bid. Judge McKinney was the only Republican running countywide who was elected to public office. 

 

Since then, Brent has worked with multiple elected officials handling their media and public relations, image development, constituent contact, and other campaign related services. Outside of politics, Brent has a background in public relations, new media, web development, management and organization.

 

In October 2007, Brent joined forces with Jack Campbell in establishing Public Strategy Associates. As part of their firm they offer comprehensive campaign strategy services, fundraising consulting, media placement and strategy, direct mail, voter targeting, and election compliance.

 

Brent resides in Montgomery and is married to Becky Harmon, also of Montgomery. They are the proud parents of Lilly Grace who was born August 9, 2010.
