Carroll George Runs for Freedom
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, the Leadership Institute co-sponsored the first DC Freedom 5K, a project of this year's Koch Associate Program. The race was held in Rock Creek Park at 8 am on Saturday morning. Almost 200 runners came out for the event, including a long-time supporter of LI, Mr. Carroll George. At 90 years old, Mr. George was the oldest runner and finished the race in about 40 minutes. He was presented with the "Freedom Fighter" award and gave an impromptu acceptance speech in which he praised the Leadership Institute and the work LI does.
