Josh Weitzel -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

Josh is a senior at Slippery Rock University majoring in political science and currently an intern for the Leadership Institute working in the Youth Leadership School department. He is a former Pennsylvania state chairman for Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) and present treasurer for Slippery Rock University’s YAL chapter. Josh is also the founder and current president of Pro-Life SRU in which they were presented Student for Life of America’s “Group of the Month” award for November 2012 and a finalist for “New Group of the Year”. He plans on creating several other conservative clubs on Slippery Rock’s campus this fall. On campus, he has partaken in several political debates ranging from privatizing healthcare to preventing abortion to ending affirmative action. Josh is currently launching a project at Slippery Rock to “de-collectivize” the Student Government Association’s activity fees and is actively trying to transform the system to that of free markets and individual decision-making. Outside the classroom, Josh raises livestock to help fund his education and thoroughly enjoys spending time outside whether it’s fishing, shooting guns, or catching a ball game. He’s a big Pittsburgh Pirates fan and a fan of baseball in general. His summers are taken over by AK Steel where he works in the Weld & Trim Department preparing steel for the next stage of development as well as the Shipping Department processing large quantities of steel products and loading orders onto trucks. Josh resides in Slippery Rock, PA with his dog, Max.
