This fun, interactive workshop will introduce you to key concepts and give you hands-on experience in R. No previous experience with R or programming is necessary.
You will work through relevant examples, from start to finish, based on a real-world data set. You will also learn about basic troubleshooting, version control and organization strategy, and free resources available to help you continue to develop your skills.
Attendees must bring a laptop with R and Rstudio installed. Rstudio is a popular interface for the R programming language. Both are free.
Jay Lucas is a Data Scientist at WPA Intelligence. He analyzes surveys, voter rolls, and commercial data with machine learning algorithms in order to quantify people's likely preferences and behaviors. Prior to joining WPAi, he spent five years on Capitol Hill helping Republicans preserve liberty. Jay holds a M.S. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on econometrics and survey research methodology, and a B.S. in Business Economics from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
