What you will learn

Develop speeches that withstand press scrutiny and learn how to write by committee.  In this class, you will look at professional speeches that are well-written, persuasive, and cogent.  We will talk about effectively using a speech in a political campaign.  There will be discussion of target audiences, pro-active messaging, winning strategies, and effective impact.

In the first night, this class will cover audience analysis, strategy, messaging and writing by committee.  In the second night, you will discuss argument construction, writing for the eye and ear, and the future direction of national rhetoric.
Your faculty has been a speechwriter at the highest levels of government and served in 3 presidential administrations; his experience will be invaluable in teaching you the finer points of speech composition and messaging.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to use inclusive language.
  • How to develop the speech as an argument.
  • How to leave the audience in full agreement with you.
  • How to let sound bites flow from the speech.
