Adrian Arnakis -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

Adrian Arnakis currently serves as Counsel and Policy Director for Surface Transportation on the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. In her current capacity, Mrs. Arnakis is in charge of setting policy under the direction of U.S. Senator John Thune. Adrian oversees a vast portfolio of issues related to surface and ocean transportation.

Adrian also has been a strong advocate of the Second Amendment and serves as Chair for the Second Amendment Task Force in the Senate. Most recently, Adrian coordinated a bipartisan effort to insure the defeat of the Toomey-Manchin Amendment. Known for her effective political skills combined with charm, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell requested Adrian's assistance in the recent gun debate.

Prior to working on the Commerce Committee, Adrian spent time in the personal office of Senator Thune as a Senior Legislative Aide and later serving as Legislative Counsel. Having worked on several political campaigns prior to her tenure in the Senate, Adrian understands both the campaign and political sides to public policy.

Adrian is a native of Northern Virginia and obtained her undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill and her JD from the University of Miami. Adrian is married to Robert Arnakis.
