John MacDonald is a winner of the Direct Mail Association of Washington’s “MAXI” (Marking Award for eXcellence and Innovation) as well as the Silver Elephant from the Goldies Awards for his work on direct mail.  John has raised millions of dollars through direct mail for such clients as Citizens United, John Bolton PAC, the American Conservative Union, Americans for Fair Taxation, and many others.  

Prior to joining HSP Direct, John worked actively with several political campaigns including Tom Smith for U.S. Senate, Chris Reilly for U.S. Congress, and Dave LaRock for Delegate. He also has a background as an educator, having taught writing seminars at the John S. Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines at Cornell University. 

John graduated summa cum laude from Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in History and also holds a M.A. from Cornell University in American History. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Institute’s 2014 Direct Mail School.

He lives in Ashburn, Virginia and attends Saint Theresa Catholic Church.
