Cheryl began her journalism career in 1976, serving for 6 years as a Metro Reporter for The News World. There, she had a weekly column on human interest stories.
Cheryl then moved to The Washington Times in 1985 where she would spend the next 34 years. She worked as a National Reporter on family and social issues covering Congress, Supreme Court, State Legislatures, advocacy groups and more. Cheryl also had a bi-weekly column: "On the Family."
Towards the end of her time at the WT, Cheryl was the Special Sections Manager, where she was in charge of the Special Sections Department advancing bi-partisan public education and thought leadership.
