Luke Bellocchi -  Volunteer Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Luke Bellocchi has been an expert on immigration and homeland security policy for over 20 years.  He started his career as an Attorney Advisor at the US Dept of State, Consular Bureau, specializing in visa, citizenship, and passport law.

After 9/11, he was asked to join the full-committee staff of the House Judiciary Committee as Counsel for immigration issues and to address security lapses that led to 9/11 terrorists obtaining visas to enter the US.  His work there often consisted of preparing oversight hearings to address these issues and large-scale unauthorized migration into the US.

In the Senate, he served two Chairs at the Senate Republican Policy Committee (RPC) addressing ongoing comprehensive immigration and homeland security legislation.  Luke later served as Counsel to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) and as Assistant Commissioner for Customs & Border Protection (CBP) at the US Dept of Homeland Security (DHS).  Now in the private sector, Luke continues to engage in immigration policy issues and has testified before a Senate committee on immigration legalization issues.

Luke is an alum of LI and holds degrees from the Univ. of Virginia (UVA), Georgetown Law, the Joint Military Intelligence College, and Univ. of Rochester.
