Jennifer Crall -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

Jennifer Crall was named senior director for external affairs in September 2015.  Prior to that she served as deputy director in IRI's office of monitoring and evaluation.  She joined the Institute in 2009 and prior to serving as deputy director, she was IRI’s resident country director in Libya.  

As deputy director, Crall assisted IRI's staff in Washington, DC, overseas and IRI partners in designing monitoring and evaluation systems that were results-oriented, rigorous and realistic to implement.  She encouraged staff and partners to take a collaborative, use-based approach to monitoring and evaluation, and conducted capacity training and leading strategic planning sessions.

While in Libya, Crall implemented the Institute’s programs focused on democratic governance.  In addition to leading IRI’s Libya office, she served as resident country director in Afghanistan and as a resident program officer in Iraq.  She has also worked on IRI programs in Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon and West Bank/Gaza from Washington, DC.  Crall has an extensive background in strategic planning, preparing candidates and parties to stand for election, developing advocacy campaigns and building sustainable civil society organizations.

In her time with IRI, Crall has implemented numerous special projects, including leading a delegation of Jordanian mayors to Colombia for a local governance best practices conference, and participating in election observation missions to Timor-Leste and Ukraine in 2012.

Prior to joining IRI, Crall worked in political management and communications.  Her experience includes working as a special assistant for the United States Department of State, managing a 2006 congressional race, serving as deputy chief of staff to Representative Tom Latham, and working on John McCain’s 2008 presidential primary campaign.
