Scott Hogenson is an independent public affairs consultant providing counsel to a variety of corporate and  political clients. Scott previously worked as a senior vice president at the crisis management firm Dezenhall Resources in Washington, DC, and served in the Bush Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he managed a staff of 50 public affairs officers, media specialists and speechwriters for the nation’s second largest cabinet agency. In this capacity, Scott was the agency’s lead executive for media relations strategy involving more than 1,000 major medical centers and clinics serving more than five million veterans nationwide, 123 national cemeteries and 40 veteran’s benefits offices.

Scott is also a seasoned political professional, having worked on three presidential campaigns as a senior member of the Press Office at the Republican National Committee. He managed radio operations for the 1996 and 1992 Republican National Conventions, and managed Internet and radio operations for the 2004 convention.

Prior to arriving in Washington, D.C. in 1992, Scott was a news manager, academician and prize-winning journalist, receiving awards from the Associated Press and the Radio-Television News Directors Association. He has been a Contributing Editor for National Public Radio and a Broadcast Editor for United Press International, as well as manager of radio news operations in Wisconsin, Virginia and Texas. Scott was also a member of the academic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was managing editor for the Wisconsin Public Radio News Network and lectured in the School of Journalism.

Marketing and media analysis round out Scott’s background. He worked as a marketing specialist for the New England Ski Areas Council in Woodstock, Vermont between 1989 and 1992, and served six years as a senior executive with the Media Research Center in Alexandria, Virginia. He is also a member of the Consulting Faculty at the Buckley School of Public Speaking and a member of the Buckley Forensic Society.

Scott began his career in communications as a photographer and cutline writer for the Montevideo (Minn.) American-News. He is also an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, where he worked with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service as a television news anchor.
