Ron Nehring -  Staff and Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Ron Nehring, Director of International Programs at The Leadership Institute, is a strategist and communications expert who served as National Spokesman in the 2016 Presidential campaign of Senator Ted Cruz.

Prior to stepping onto the national stage, Ron was elected the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor of California, earning the support of many conservative organizations and over 3.1 million voters in 2014.

Ron Nehring led the California Republican Party as Chairman from 2007 to 2011.  He successfully retired the party’s entire $4.7 million debt, and the party raised more than $74 million during his tenure.  Upon leaving office due to term limits, the California Republican Party was left with no debt and a substantial cash reserve.  Financial controls were improved and a professional staff put in place.

He served as a Trustee for the Grossmont Union High School District in San Diego County – a large district with 11 high schools, 24,000 students at the time and a budget in excess of $170 million.  He chaired the Audit Committee and was a strong proponent of expanding charter schools.  In 2020, San Diego County voters elected Ron to serve in a local planning capacity, winning the support of over 65% of voters in his district.
