National Rifle Association is Hiring Field Representatives
The National Rifle Association, the nation's premiere grassroots organization, is looking to hire campaign field staff to organize gun owners this election season.The ideal candidate will have previous campaign experience, with emphasis on voter registration, field work and grassroots organization. Activities will include, but not be limited to: volunteer recruitment; voter registration; phone banks; door-to-door; yard sign and bumper sticker distribution; letters to editor; event organization; and GOTV & Election Day activities.Additionally, candidates:- must be willing to dedicate attention to this job on full-time basis, including weekends and evenings;- must be self-starter, able to work independently with little direct oversight, and meet strict deadlines and reporting requirements;- must be in harmony with NRA's mission and able to work in support of a candidate irrespective of partisan affiliation. Competitive monthly stipend, based on experience. Expenses, including travel, lodging, food, and the like will NOT be reimbursed. LI Trains over 100 in Delaware
On Saturday, March 27, 2010, over 120 enthusiastic activists from Delaware and as far away as upstate New York descended on Dover for a rollicking day of training on topics related to communications, voter contact, organizing, and volunteer recruitment and deployment. While many were veterans of past campaigns, there were likewise a good number of participants who were only recently drawn into politics by current events in Washington and in their state capitals. Several participants have already inquired about further, specialized training. >

LI teams up with Patrick Henry College
Patrick Henry College undertook a weekend retreat as part of its Leadership Program for students studying Public Policy and Government. Twenty students made the trek up into the Catoctin Mountains west of the college where they spent the weekend in the college's lodge, the Bear's Den. On Saturday, March 13, 2010, the Leadership Institute's Grassroots Training Division presented a training module in the form of an interactive workshop for the students, an innovative experience for both the students and the LI instructors.>

A total of 120 participants took part in the two-day Grassroots Campaign School at Liberty University on March 6-7, 2010. They included repeat attendees from previous schools at Liberty, and several who had found the school on the Leadership Institute web site. LI Trains over 40 Interns at Day-long Workshop
On March 4, 2010 forty-four area interns came together to network, work on professional development, and learn about the programs that the Leadership Institute has to offer. Both Congressional offices and local organizations such as the Heritage Foundation, the CATO Institute, FreedomWorks, and the Family Research Council sent their interns to the Leadership Institute to focus on skills such as networking, first impressions, personal finance and a 'resume crash course' offered by Meghann Olshefski (Director, Employment Placement Services). Students who attended the training also have the chance to attend another LI training at no cost. >

Hundreds of Conservatives attend the 4th Annual CPAC Job and Internship Fair
On Friday, February 20th, 2010, over 600 conservatives attended the 4th annual Leadership Institute Job and Internship Fair at CPAC in Washington, DC. Attendees met with hiring managers from 24 leading organizations including the Leadership Institute to discuss job and internship opportunities. Also on hand were three professionals who offered free resume consultations. Participating employers walked away with stacks of resumes and look forward to hiring our job fair participants. Fifty Students Attend Fundraising and Communications Workshop in Boston
50 social conservatives gathered in a Boston suburb on January 30-31, 2010 for a two-day Fundraising and Communications Workshop to get a jump-start on their competition. The biggest hit of the two-day training was listening to Robert Willington, a local activist and national strategist, share insider secrets for a successful online fundraising and communications campaign. Willington is credited with the web-strategy for the recent successful campaign of Scott Brown for Senate in Massachusetts.>

Leadership Institute-trained freedom fighters gather in Washington, DC
Conservatives from nearly a dozen countries arrived in Washington, DC this week to learn how to effectively defeat the radical Left. Travelling from as far away as Ghana, Venezuela, and the Netherlands, these students attended the Leadership Institute's International Seminar, a power-packed training which gives foreign conservatives an opportunity to learn from their American counterparts. Over the course of a week, students learn how to effectively utilize the internet, television, and traditional grassroots networking to advance conservative candidates and causes. For over thirty years the Leadership Institute has worked with conservative leaders around the world to help increase the number and effectiveness of activists dedicated to limited government and personal responsibility. International Students Learn On-Camera TV Techniques
On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, the Leadership Institute's Department of Communications Training organized a one-day On-Camera Television Workshop in conjunction with the International Leadership Training Seminar. Political activists and future candidates from 5 different countries gained valuable experience answering difficult questions in front of the television cameras and under the bright lights of the Leadership Institute Studios. The studios at the Leadership Institute give conservatives a safe environment to shape their message and polish delivery techniques. On Monday, January 18, 2010, LI staff spoke to a group of Cedarville University students and faculty about internship opportunities and job search strategy at an informational meeting for the university's Semester in DC program. At the meeting Leadership Institute staff promoted LI training, the internship program, and the employment placement program. Directly following the informational gathering, LI hosted a 'Navigating DC: Finding your Dream Job' workshop for students seriously considering a semester in DC.As Cedarville prepares for its second annual Semester in DC in the fall, LI staff look forward to training Cedarville students both in DC and on the Ohio campus in 2010.>

On Wednesday, January 20, 2010, the Leadership Institute's Department of Political Training organized a one-day Comprehensive Internet Activist School in conjunction with the International Leadership Training Seminar. Participants learned how to create and implement a successful online strategy through social networking, blogging, online video, expanding email lists, protecting online identity, and search engine optimization. The school not only trains students how to use internet activism utilities but more importantly how to think strategically when implementing online activism.>

The winner will secure the following awards:A cash prize of $10,000A paid internship of his or her choice at Fox News Channel, The Wall Street Journal or the New York PostResidential housing in New York City, if necessary.The Eric Breindel Memorial Foundation will present the award to the undergraduate columnist, editorialist or reporter whose work best reflects the spirit of the writings by Eric Breindel: Love of country and its democratic institutions as well as the act of bearing witness to the evils of totalitarianism.Those who wish to be considered should submit no more than two editorials, columns or news stories, per person, written in the 2009-2010 academic year.
