Richard Norman -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Richard received his BA in history from Bluefield College and attended the University of Richmond Graduate School in political science.  Richard served in a presidential and two congressional campaigns before launching his career in fundraising in 1983. In 1987 Richard founded The Richard Norman Company. His hundreds of clients have included Ollie North, the NRSC, RNC, and NRCC, former Vice President Dan Quayle, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Herman Cain, numerous members of the House and Senate and The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Current clients include the Tea Party Patriots, Citizen Link, Rep. Steve King, Sen. Mike Lee’s PAC and reelection campaign, Roy Moore’s campaign for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Freedom Alliance, Media Research Center, George Allen for Senate and BAMPAC, among others.

 

A chronic entrepreneur, Richard also founded Robertson Mailing List Company, Patriot Data Services, and Active Engagement as well as a hospitality company, the Crabtree Falls Company of Virginia.

 

Richard is a member of the Board of the UVA Center for Politics, the Virginia Institute for Public Policy and the American Association of Political Consultants and a member of the Council for National Policy. He has lectured on three continents for The Leadership Institute and the International Republican Institute.  He has taught at The University of Virginia School of Government and George Washington University Graduate School.  

 

Richard was honored by Politics Magazine as a “Mover and Shaker”, and by the American Conservative Union for helping to stop “Hillary Health Care”. He received the 2010 “Andrew Jackson Champion of Liberty” award from the US Taxpayer’s Alliance and the “Republican Fundraiser of the Year: 2011” award from the American Association of Political Consultants. He was recently inducted into the Bluefield College Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

 

In his spare time Richard enjoys working out, golf and surfing. Richard and his wife, Vickie, have an adult son and daughter, and one granddaughter, and reside in rural Paeonian Springs, Virginia with their three dogs and one gigantic orange cat.
