After graduating from Villanova University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in Philosophy, Colin spent two years as an aide to U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA). In 2004, he left Washington D.C., to serve as field coordinator for the Republican National Committee's outreach effort to social conservatives in swing-state Pennsylvania. Colin received a special commendation for his work during the election, specifically for his efforts to register new voters.
Colin then joined the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee, serving in the Office of Public Liaison. Shortly thereafter, he accepted a presidential appointment to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he served as a confidential assistant in the Legislative Affairs Office of the Foreign Agricultural Service.
In August 2006, Colin joined the staff of HSP Direct and, before becoming an account executive, served as an account representative/account executive assistant, writing direct mail copy and managing programs for a diverse set of clients, ranging from campaigns and political action committees to pro-life and religious organizations.
Colin is married to Maura (McBryan) Burkhalter and they have three daughters, Maria Theresa, Anne de Sales and Clare Josephine.
