Morgan Griffith is currently serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he proudly represents the 9th Congressional District of Virginia. He will serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Prior to his election, Morgan served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1994 to 2011, where he represented the 8th District. In 2000, Morgan was elected House Majority Leader and was the first Republican in Virginia history to hold that position. During his time in the House of Delegates, Morgan stood up to big spenders who wanted to raise taxes, passed critical legislation to help keep Virginians safer from violent crime and worked to make the Commonwealth a welcome environment for businesses and families. Morgan also took an active role in protecting our constitutional freedoms and defending Second Amendment rights, as well as cracking down on sexual offenders. 

Morgan is a graduate of Salem’s Andrew Lewis High School and an honors graduate of Emory and Henry College. After completing studies at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Morgan returned to Southwest Virginia where he operated his own private law practice for over two decades. Most recently, Morgan joined Albo and Oblon, one of Virginia’s fastest growing law firms, as a partner.

Morgan is married to Hilary Davis Griffith, and together they have three children.
