Dennis “Shane” Wikfors was born and raised in Tucson Arizona where he attended Canyon Del Oro High School. After graduating from high school, Shane enlisted in the United States Navy where he was trained to operate nuclear reactors. He served aboard the USS Enterprise during several critical military campaigns.
After completing six years of service, Shane returned to Tucson to pursue and obtain a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (Economics, Political Science, History) from the University of Arizona. It was at that time that he became active in Arizona politics and political campaigns.
While in school, he worked as the Administrative Director of Tucson RTL and President of the University of Arizona Students for Life. It was also at this time Shane began involved in grassroots development and public policy advocacy through his involvement with The Arizona Christian Coalition and Republican Party. He served twice on the Pima County Republican Executive Committee.
In 1994, Shane ran for the Arizona State House of Representatives while completing his senior year at the University of Arizona. He ran as the lone Republican against two well-financed Democrat incumbents. He narrowly lost in his bit but did shock the political establishment with his low budget, grassroots campaign.
In 1998, Shane returned to school to pursue his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He completed the program in 2000 with his course study emphasis on business development, public relations and political consulting.
