Brittany graduated from the University of West Florida (Pensacola) with a bachelor’s degree in political science in December 2011.  She has been married to Michael Hamel since December 2012, and became homeowner in October 2013. Brittany has been a member of the Escambia Federated Republican Women's club since 2011, and now serves as the club Treasurer and Public Relations Chair. She is back at the University of West Florida studying in the Masters of Science in Public Administration Program. Her passion for the political process began in high school when she was invited to attend Florida’s Girls State during her junior year of high school.

While in college, she interned for Florida State Representative Clay Ingram’s district office where she assisted with building databases, researching policy issues and contacting area businesses and residents. In 2011, Brittany attended Florida’s Presidency 5/ FL CPAC, serving as a delegate for Escambia County, Florida. While president of UWF’s College Republicans, Brittany planned a 9/11 memorial service, invited local veterans to speak to students and area residents, built a Berlin Wall on campus, and assisted in sending students to DC for the 2012 CPAC.

Brittany’s political experience on campaigns goes back to the 2008 Presidential Election, where she worked in Madison County Florida with the local Republican Executive Committee to elect John McCain. She then started as a volunteer and then was hired by the Rick Scott gubernatorial campaign in 2010.  Brittany then interned with the Leadership Institute in the Youth Leadership School Department in Arlington, VA form January 2012-April 2012.

Upon returning to Florida, she began volunteering with the Republican Party of Florida in the 2012 Romney Victory Office and was quickly picked up by State Representative Clay Ford's re-election campaign for Florida House District 2, as his campaign manager, June 2012-August 2012.  On September 1, 2012, Brittany was hired by the Florida House of Representatives as the Legislative Assistant for Representative Ford and traveled between the district and Tallahassee to develop, construct, and pass legislation.  Due to the untimely death of Representative Ford, a special election took place for House District 2.  When Representative Mike Hill won the election in June 2013, Brittany was hired as the District Assistant.  She continues to work on legislation and travel between the district and the capitol. She has also acquired the responsibilities of office manager, office accountant, and constituent case manager.
